Zacango Zoo

Zacango Zoo (Zoológico de Zacango) is about 7 km (4 mi.) s.e. of Toluca via Mex. 55 to the Metepec exit, then approximately 6 km (3.5 mi.) w. on Carretera Metepec to Km marker 7, following signs. The zoo displays more than 200 species of animals on the grounds of the former Hacienda de Zacango, home of the Order of Franciscan Priests in the 16th century. There ae six different zones: an African compound with free-roaming animals; a walk-through aviary; habitats for carnivorous animals, herbivores and primates; and a reptile exhibit.
