Saginaw Bay Visitor Center is 3 mi. n. in Bay City State Recreation Area. Permanent and changing exhibits depict life in the wetlands. A 15-minute multimedia presentation about wetlands development is offered. The paved Frank N. Anderson Nature Trail leads to Tobico Marsh, a 1,700-acre refuge for more than 100 species of birds and migratory waterfowl. Nature trails, observation towers and a boardwalk are included. The wetlands also contain a fishing pier. Visitors can walk to the marsh from the center, which offers a bird observation room and a wet lab. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
Park entry requires a Recreation Passport (valid for 1 year and allows entry into Michigan state parks) $11 (per private in-state vehicle); $5 (per in-state motorcycle); $31 (per private out-of-state vehicle). Nonresident single-day pass $9 (per private out-of-state vehicle).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-6, Sun. noon-6, Memorial Day weekend-Labor Day; Tues.-Sun. noon-5, day after Labor Day to mid-Dec. and mid-Jan. through the day before Memorial Day weekend.
