Yankee Air Museum is at 47884 D St. at Willow Run Airport. The museum features aircraft as well as items related to aviation and local history. There are thousands of World War II artifacts and a variety of hands-on exhibits for children. Temporary aviation exhibits also are displayed and restoration projects can often be seen.
The airport was built by Ford Motor Co. in 1941 to be used as an airfield for the company's local B-24 bomber plant, which was the first aircraft manufacturing plant to employ Ford's assembly line.
Note: In 2020, the museum is expected to relocate to the bomber plant next to its current location and will be renamed the National Museum of Aviation and Technology.
