AAA Inspector Notes
Built in 1931 by Henry Ford, this modern hotel's stunning lobby is a great example of Georgian-style architecture and opulence. Over the years, the hotel has expanded to multiple wings and buildings. Italian marble flooring, intricate wood mouldings and plush furnishings highlight the lobby's decor. The lobby extends to a porch and then to a herb garden, which is just another unique feature to this already majestic property. Guest room sizes and configurations differ from wing to wing and building to building, but all are appointed in an upscale decor. Luxurious bedding packages, polished wood furnishings and flat-panel televisions are featured in each room. Smoke free premises. 229 units, some two bedrooms and houses. 2-4 stories, interior/exterior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: The location and history were great, the facility was well maintained
Cons: We were supposed to be on the Concier Level but it was certainly not special. The A/C should have been better controlled, it was freezing

Pros: Rooms very comfortable. Lobby and grounds beautiful. Cleaning staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast good but very expensive. For the price I expect more choice on the buffet. No options for a casual lunch outside, a shame really since the grounds are so nice. Dinner menu is limited and unimaginative by day 3 both my son and I were bored. Food was either bland or over salted. No use of herbs to season. I has a scallop starter that was well presented but the hero of the dish(scallop) tasted of nothing!! No refreshments poolside and there is quite a walk to the restaurant to get a drink. Pool not lifeguarded but there is an attendant albeit a bit disinterested.

Pros: A real feeling of old-style luxury in the world's first ever airport hotel, built by Henry Ford for his long-gone airport.. So handy for all the Ford attractions and Automotive Hall of Fame. The staff could not have been more helpful.
Cons: The Internet service was iffy, and it would have been nice to find a fridge in the room to keep water cold.
