Detroit Historical Museum

Detroit Historical Museum is at 5401 Woodward Ave. at jct. Kirby Ave. Museum exhibits depict more than 300 years of Detroit and southeastern Michigan history, showcasing its days as a fur-trading outpost to the present. Automotive history also is profiled. Reconstructions of 19th- and early-20th-century streets as well as historic model railroads can be seen. Exhibits feature the region's role as the “Arsenal of Democracy” during World War II, its involvement in the Underground Railroad, and its contributions to business, sports, media, architecture, music and the arts. The Kid Rock Music Lab spotlights 100 years of Detroit music history.

Films and educational programs are offered.
