Whaley Historic House Museum, 624 E. Kearsley St., is the former home of Robert Whaley, the Citizens Bank president who granted a $2,000 loan to William Durant and J. Dallas Dort, who would later found General Motors Corp. together. The Whaley family lived here 1885-1925; the 1859 house is furnished with period and family pieces as well as Flint artifacts. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 45 minutes minimum.
$5; $3 (ages 6-15). Cash only. Reservations are recommended.
Hours: Guided tours are given on the first and third Sat. of the month 10-1, other times by appointment. Last tour begins at noon. Note: Due to a recent fire, the house is currently closed. Phone for further updates. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
