AAA Editor Notes
Oakland University’s Meadow Brook Hall is 3 mi. e. via Walton Blvd., then .3 mi. s. on Adams Rd., on the eastern campus of Oakland University. This 1920s Tudor Revival-style mansion was once the residence of Matilda Dodge Wilson and lumber broker Alfred G. Wilson. The 88,000-square-foot, 110-room home boasts a two-story ballroom, 24 fireplaces, hand-carved paneling and sculptured ceilings as well as many original furnishings and works of art.

Knole Cottage, also on the premises, is a brick six-room playhouse built for Frances Dodge. It is furnished in the same style as Meadow Brook Hall. Visitors can walk through the various gardens; spring, summer and autumn provide the best viewing opportunities.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
