As the name suggests, the focus here is on old-fashioned, from-scratch, Southern cooking. Many of the dishes are influenced by the chef’s mother and grandmother. Barbecue plates and fried chicken are the highlights. You can pair them with sides, such as mac and cheese, braised greens or slow-cooked grits. Although breakfast and lunch are only available on Saturday and Sunday the breakfast here is special; make sure to sample a freshly baked biscuit with honey butter. Many seats offer relaxing views of the Kalamazoo River.
