Father Marquette National Memorial is .2 mi. n.w. of the bridge via US 2; exit in the Marquette unit of Straits State Park. The memorial honors Jacques Marquette, the French explorer who established the state&#8217;s first European settlements at Sault Ste. Marie and St. Ignace. Interpretive trails through the 52-acre park provide panoramic views of the straits and Mackinac Bridge.</br>Picnicking is permitted. </br>
Memorial free. Park entry requires a Recreation Passport (valid for 1 year and allows entry into Michigan state parks) $11 (per private in-state vehicle); $5 (per in-state motorcycle); $31 (per private out-of-state vehicle). Nonresident single-day pass $9 (per private out-of-state vehicle).
Hours: Park open daily 10-8, Memorial Day-Labor Day. Allow 1 hour minimum.
