White River Light Station Museum is at 6199 Murray Rd. This 1875 lighthouse displays photographs, paintings and marine artifacts from and about steamships and Great Lakes vessels. Local shipping activity history also is profiled. The collection includes the original Fresnel lens and artifacts from the United States Lighthouse Service and the Coast Guard as well as a life ring from the Edmund Fitzgerald. Visitors can climb the spiral stairway to view the dunes along Lake Michigan’s coastline. Phone ahead for parking information for large campers and RVs. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Hours: Tues.-Sun. 10-5, Memorial Day weekend-Oct. 31; by appointment rest of year.
