Stirrup Peak

Stirrup Peak (El Estribo) is about 4 km (2.5 mi.) w. of the main plaza via Calle Ponce de León (beginning at the southwest corner of Plaza Vasco de Quiroga), following signs. Reached by a steep cobblestone road, it overlooks the lake and surrounding villages. The road can be walked or driven; if you choose to hike to the summit, which takes about an hour, it's safer to go on a weekend when there are other people around.

Picnicking is permitted.
