AAA Editor Notes
La Huatápera Regional Museum of Popular Art (Museo Regional de Arte Popular la Huatápera) is on Calle Vasco de Quiroga, facing the n. side of Plaza Morelos. It is housed within La Huatapera, a colonnaded building that is a fine example of 16th-century architecture; built under the direction of Spanish bishop Vasco de Quiroga, it was originally a hospital. The museum exhibits artwork by the Purepecha, Mazahua, Nahua and Otomi Indians—all indigenous peoples of Michoacán—and also has two rooms featuring rotating displays.

Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
