Tzaráracua Waterfall

Tzaráracua Waterfall (Cascada de Tzaráracua) is just off Mex. 37 about 10 km (6 mi.) s. of town. Here the Río Cupatitzio rushes through a natural stone amphitheater, then drops about 90 feet into a pool within a cool, leafy setting. There is a fairly steep half-mile descent from the parking area down to the falls, but the trail is well marked, and handrails are provided. Buses to Tzaráracua (tsah-RAH-rah-kwah) depart from Uruapan's main plaza on weekends and drop passengers off at the parking lot; a cab ride to the falls is about $5 (U.S.).
