Split Rock Lighthouse Historic Site is off SR 61, 20 mi. n. of Two Harbors and 5 mi. s.w. of Beaver Bay, within Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. This National Historic Landmark stands atop a 130-foot cliff, towering above the shoreline of Lake Superior. The light station operated 1910-69 and still has its original third-order lens and clockworks. In addition to the lighthouse, visitors can see a restored keeper's home, a fog signal and other buildings. Exhibits are displayed in the visitor center.
Guided tours are available.
