AAA Editor Notes
Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox stand in Paul Bunyan Park, 300 Bemidji Ave. (at Third St. N.W.). The massive statues of Paul Bunyan and his trusty ox were created in the late 1930s. Paul wears a red-checked lumberjack shirt and stands nearly 19 feet tall; Babe—who is indeed a bright shade of blue—stands about 10 feet tall and measures 23 feet from nose to tail. The side-by-side statues make a great photo op. The renovated park, on the shore of Lake Bemidji, offers walking trails, a bike trail, picnic areas and a barrier-free playground; an adjacent tourist information center has restroom facilities and a collection of Paul Bunyan memorabilia.

Recreational activities are permitted.
