AAA Editor Notes
Nickelodeon Universe is in the center of Mall of America. This beautifully landscaped indoor theme park, the largest in the nation, features more than 30 rides and attractions catering to every member of the family.
Thrill rides include a spinning roller coaster called the Fairly Odd Coaster; SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge, a coaster that puts riders through head-over-heels loops and spirals; and Avatar Airbender, which sends you skyward on a “wave of air.” There are gentler rides for younger children and families, too: Rugrats Reptarmobiles are pint-sized bumper cars, while Pineapple Poppers is a brightly inflatable version of SpongeBob's beloved pineapple house.
Attractions at the Dutchman's Deck Adventure Course include the Ghostly GangPlank Ropes, where kids can climb up to 56 feet in the air, and the Barnacle Blast Zipline, which takes riders on a 410-foot-long, to-and-back ride while suspended 55 feet in the air.
Giant portraits of SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick, Dora and Diego, Blue and the Backyardigans and other popular Nickelodeon stars look down over the park. Characters make daily appearances, and families can participate in character “meet and greet” sessions and photo opportunities.
Note: Visitors must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the zipline or climb the ropes course; closed-toe shoes and pants or shorts (no skirts or dresses) are required.
