Gopher Campfire Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately 7 mi. n.e. via CR 7 (Bear Lake Rd.). Located along the north bank of the Crow River between Riverside and Masonic/West River parks, this refuge is home to an estimated 14,000 geese as well as ducks, swans, wild turkeys and deer. The hike-and-bike Luce Line Trail runs along the river. The Gopher Campfire Club maintains the refuge and organizes events that include a family fishing contest, wild game feed and sport shooting competitions. A rifle and archery range is adjacent, but hunting is not permitted on the grounds. Picnicking is permitted.
