Blue Mounds State Park is 5 mi. n. on US 75. The park preserves 1,826 acres of prairie used in part to support bison. Numerous varieties of wildflowers and grasses provide a range of color in late summer. Blue Mounds also is one of the few places in Minnesota where cactus can be found—patches of prickly pear grow on top of the park's quartzite outcrops, blooming in late June and early July. Activities include bicycling, fishing, hiking and rock climbing.
