Sandy Lake Lock and Dam is 13 mi. n. on SR 65, within the Sandy Lake Recreation Area at 22205 531st Ln. Originally built of wood in 1895, the structures were replaced by concrete in 1911. A museum in the lock house displays Native American artifacts and exhibits about the history of fur trading in the region. A recreation area has a campground and swimming beach.

Camping is permitted.

Free. Fees are charged for camping and launching boats.
Mon.-Thurs. and Sun. 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Fri.-Sat. 8 a.m.-11 p.m., mid-May through Sept. 30.
