Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary is 1.5 mi. s. on US 53, then approximately 15 mi. n.w. on CR 23 (Nett Lake Rd.) to 12541 Nett Lake Rd., following signs. Visitors board a bus for a ride to an elevated viewing platform where black bears in the wild can be observed. Knowledgeable staff members can answer questions about the bears' natural behavior. The 360-acre habitat promotes the bears' well-being through education; it also is home to bobcats, timber wolves, whitetail deer and other wildlife.
Tues.-Sun. 5-8 p.m., Memorial Day weekend-Labor Day weekend (weather permitting). Viewing platform closes at dusk. Buses do not run during lightning storms. Closed Memorial Day and Labor Day. Allow 30 minutes minimum.
