AAA Editor Notes
Cottage 11 is on the Minnesota State Orphanage Museum grounds. This building is a restored boys' cottage where Minnesota's dependent and neglected children lived. An introductory video features a former resident who relates his experiences growing up at the orphanage. Other video presentations in rooms throughout the building offer insight into daily orphanage life. Bedrooms, bathrooms, common spaces and the basement where the boys spent much of their time can be seen.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
