Minnesota Children's Museum is at 10 W. 7th St., between St. Peter and Wabasha sts. It offers hands-on activities for children between 6 months and 10 years of age. Forces at Play encourages creativity and problem solving through investigation and experimentation with air and water, while Pattern Wizardry prompts an exploration of symmetry and repetition through sounds, shapes and colors. The Scramble, a vertical playground, allows children to climb, slide, scoot and explore.
Kids can learn about a conductor's job, fix a wobbly wheel and construct a railroad at Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails. Earth World immerses them in lifelike Minnesota habitats. In Our World they can play “grown-ups” in a child-size environment. The seasonal Rooftop ArtPark overlooks downtown St. Paul and merges art and nature; families can splash their hands in the waters of a stream bed, build a castle in the sand cove or climb a 12-foot tree fort.
