AAA Editor Notes
Taylors Falls Canoe & Kayak Rental excursions depart from the canoe base at 307 Milltown Rd., within Interstate State Park. Six-mile, 2- to 3-hour canoe and kayak trips from the state park to Osceola head downstream, where you're then picked up and driven back to your vehicle. This stretch of the St. Croix River is scenic and tranquil, making it ideal for family outings.
Depending on the time of year the journey will be primarily a float trip or a paddle trip; the water flows faster during the spring. A map is provided showing where to exit the water (just beyond the Osceola bridge). Allow extra time for a picnic at one of the riverside beaches. An express shuttle service allows you to park your car at the end destination, board a shuttle to the trip starting point and then paddle back down the river to your vehicle.
Children 12 and under are required to wear a life jacket. A maximum of three adults or two adults and two small children per canoe is recommended. Bring sunscreen and a hat. Jumping into the water from cliffs, bridges or trees is illegal.
Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
