AAA Editor Notes
3M Museum is at 203 Waterfront Dr. The original headquarters of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) now contains historical exhibits about the company and its products. Five businessmen opened this tiny office in 1902 based on the mistaken belief that corundum, a mineral used in abrasives, had been discovered in the area. The company nearly went bankrupt before finding other materials for its sandpaper factory.
