Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum is off US 14 at 330 8th St. Memorabilia at this eight-building complex pertains to the life of Wilder and her family as well as the early history of Walnut Grove. Grandma's House, dating from the 1890s, features some 300 dolls. Several hands-on activities are available for children.
Hours: Daily 10-6, June-Aug.; Mon.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5, in May and Sept.; Mon.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-4, in Apr. and Oct. Extended hours in July on Wilder Pageant days. Closed Jan. 1, Christmas Eve and Christmas. Allow 1 hour minimum.
