The hotel is very nice located in the middle of downtown Clayton. The hotel is located about 3 blocks from a MetroLink station making it easy to get downtown St Louis to visit the arch. The best part of the hotel is the staff who are very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is outstanding with a wide selection of very good items - although cafeteria style, the food is fresh, hot, and very tasty - great for the start of the day. There is a shuttle from the airport so you can either take that or the MetroLink. Although the hotel is dated it is very clean with the largest chandeliers in the lobby area - that sparkly at night so you know the management is concerned with cleanliness. I would recommend the hotel to families. Also they have a pool with an indoor and outdoor section.
Pros: The best part of the hotel is the friendly staff. Also, the location is great for visiting the campus at the Washington University at St Louis. We visited during May 2017 graduation, although the hotel was full the extra work created for everyone to rush out at 8am each day did not deter the staff from being friendly and helpful. I can only imagine how stressed they were. Especially in the breakfast - the staff handled the crowd very well. Highly recommend the hotel restaurant.
Cons: St Louis is a city that has a very large metropolitan area which means you really need a car to get around. The MetroLink helps for stops to downtown St Louis and a Cardinals game but the Forest Park and other sites around the metro area you really need a car. The hotel is close to the MetroLink which helps and Uber is available - I think visitors would be happier with a car.
