Daniel Boone Home and Heritage Center is 5 mi. w. on SR F. The frontiersman supervised construction of this four-story, Georgian-style structure, which took 7 years to build, and lived in it until his death in 1820. The house contains many Boone family belongings. More than a dozen 19th-century structures on the grounds, including a gristmill, chapel and schoolhouse, have been relocated here to form Boonesville Village and restored to represent life in Boone's day. Several of them can be visited. Special events include living history days and Candlelight Christmas Tours, which are offered the first two Friday and Saturday nights in December.

Hours: Guided 1-hour tours of the Boone home and 2-hour tours including the village are offered daily 8:30-6, June-Sept.; 8:30-5, rest of year. Last tour begins 1 hour before closing. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
