Community of Christ International Headquarters is at jct. River and Walnut sts. Formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the organization's headquarters features a 6,334-pipe organ in the auditorium's main conference chamber. A museum is in the 1994 temple across the street. The temple sanctuary is based on the nautilus seashell; its spiral shape is found throughout nature and cultures.
Tours are given Mon.-Sat. 9-noon and 1:30-4, June-July; Mon.-Fri. 9-noon and 1:30-4, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1-2, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, and Dec. 22-31.
