National Frontier Trails Museum is at 318 W. Pacific Ave. The museum researches, interprets and preserves the history of the pioneers and the Santa Fe, Oregon and California trails, all of which began at or near Independence. Covered wagon rides are offered seasonally (weather permitting). A restored late 19th-century train depot is on the grounds.
$6; $5 (ages 62+); $3 (ages 6-17). Museum and wagon ride $16; $10 (ages 6-12). Combination ticket with 1859 Jail, Marshal's Home & Museum; Bingham-Waggoner Estate and Vaile Mansion $20.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-4:30, Sun. 12:30-4:30. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
