Cole County Historical Society Museum, 109 Madison St., is in The B. Gratz Brown house, which was built in 1870. Displays include a collection of inaugural ball gowns worn by Missouri first ladies, a Civil War room and period furniture. Other nearby buildings also have historical significance, and are discussed at the Society building. Guided tours are available.
