Watkins Woolen Mill State Park and State Historic Site is off I-35 exit SR 92, 7 mi. e. to SR RA, then 1.1 mi. n. to the park entrance. This 19th-century woolen mill no longer operates but is still equipped with spinners, twisters and looms. The site includes a gristmill, house and other outbuildings, as well as a museum and visitor center.
Site free. Mill or house tour $4; $3 (ages 6-17).
Hours: Site, visitor center and museum open Mon.-Sat. 9:30-5, Sun. 10:30-5, Apr.-Oct.; Mon.-Sat. 9:30-4:30, Sun. 10:30-4:30, rest of year. Mill tours are given on even hours and house tours are given on odd hours Mon.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. 11-4, Apr.-Oct.; Fri.-Sat. and holiday Mondays 10-3, Sun. 11-3, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour minimum.
