Battle of Lexington State Historic Site, 1101 Delaware St., is the site of the Civil War conflict called the Battle of the Hemp Bales, which was so named for the bales the Southern soldiers used as movable breastworks. Original earthworks and trenches are visible, and the historic Anderson House (see attraction listing) can be toured. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
