Pros: Breakfast was fantastic and many options! Staff was friendly and it was 20 minutes from the sites in St. Louis
Cons: The pool was pretty dirty and the one day they had a birthday party with 25 girls...did they stay in 5 rooms? The room is very musty smelling. Defiantly needs a dehumidifier. Mattresses need to be replaced as they are very uncomfortable. Our room was stocked with only two of each item (two people) when it was booked for four. We had to go and get more towels, plates, cups, utensils etc as they would not deliver to the room. The rooms do not get cleaned until you stay 5 days OR if you request it and has to be before noon.

Pros: The room was great
Cons: There was a shooting at the hotel during the night. The police were here and crime scene tape was up. A guest at the hotel heard the shot just above her and the cousin was in the lobby. The victim ran into the lobby to get help. The cousin saw that the victim was shot in the shoulder/chest area. I asked to staff members to tell me what happened as I felt that as a guest that we should know what was going on. Both staff members said "I don't know". The second staff member (who was the manager according to the first staff member) said, "she (the first staff member) is just telling me now - they didn't even call me last night." I said "well, she just told me she didn't know anything, so how is she telling you"? He said, "well she doesn't know all that happened either". BAD POLICY Hawthorn Suites. Before this happened, we would have gladly come back because the room and breakfast are great. But if someone gets shot at your hotel, you should be transparent with your guests because we deserve to know what is happening where we are sleeping. I told you that if you did not tell me the truth that I would write a review based on what the other guests told me they heard and saw. You said, "ok". So here it is. This happened last night. Everyone is talking about it (including the witnesses to the sound of the shot and the sight of the victim). Everyone except the hotel, that is.

Pros: The room was nice
Cons: The first night we checked in we were sent to another hotel due to "maintenance" issues. Found out the next day it was due to people not checking out on time, not maintenance. We had 6 people with our group and they wanted to send us to a hotel with one queen size bed and were not going to pay for two rooms until we pitched a major fit. They were perfectly fine with us having people sleep on the floor?!?
