Missouri Mines State Historic Site is off US 67, 1.8 mi. w. on SR 32 to the Park Hills exit, following signs. This 25-acre site encompasses the original buildings of a former lead mine that operated 1906-72. A museum features mining equipment and geology exhibits as well as an extensive mineral collection. A short video presentation provides an introduction to the lead mining process.
Site free. Museum $4; $3 (ages 6-17).
Hours: Museum open Mon.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-6, Apr.-Oct.; Mon.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-5, in Nov.; Fri.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-5, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
