Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park is n. of jct. Battlefield St. at 2400 S. Scenic. Hundreds of varieties of plants are displayed in dozens of outdoor gardens and horticultural collections covering more than 100 acres. Visitors can explore an arboretum, the historic Gray-Campbell Farmstead, the South Creek Greenway Trail and a 12,700-square-foot botanical center. At the Native Butterfly House, open from mid-May through September, visitors can view host plants and witness the stages of a butterfly's life. Specialty gardens include the Japanese Stroll Garden and the Master Gardener demonstration gardens. Interpretive signage and cell phone guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
