Jefferson National Expansion Memorial is on the riverfront at Market St. This 91-acre national park, which covers the site of the original St. Louis settlement, was established in 1935 to commemorate St. Louis' role in the 19th-century westward expansion. The site includes The Gateway Arch, the Museum of Westward Expansion and the Old Courthouse.
Park grounds, museum and courthouse free. Admission is charged at the Gateway Arch.
Hours: Park grounds open daily 6 a.m.-11 p.m. Hours for individual sites vary.
