Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum is near the corner of Skinker and Forsyth blvds. at One Brookings Dr., on the Danforth Campus at Washington University. This architecturally impressive building holds an equally impressive collection of 19th-, 20th- and 21st-century art and sculpture. Highlights include paintings by Willem de Kooning, Thomas Eakins, Marsden Hartley, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso. Computers, video and digital installations are among the various technologies incorporated into the multimedia works. Cutting-edge special exhibitions are presented regularly. The Newman Money Museum, on the building's lower level, explores the history of money and displays rare coins and currency. Time: Allow 45 minutes minimum.

Closed Jan. 1, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving and Christmas (also closes early on Christmas Eve and Dec. 31). The museum also may close during exhibit changes; phone ahead to confirm schedule.
