Missouri Civil War Museum is near the jct. of Sherman Avenue, about 10 mi. s. of the I-55 S. Broadway exit. The museum features more than 1,500 items including uniforms, medical equipment, swords, muskets and documents from the 1800's that document Missouri's role in the time leading up to, through and after the Civil War. The privately owned and run facility is housed in a 108-year-old building on the grounds of the Jefferson Barracks Historic Site, which is operated by the state. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.

Hours: Daily 9-5. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
