AAA Editor Notes

Jacques Guibourd House is at 1 N. Fourth St. This mid-Mississippi colonial French vertical log post on sill house was constructed in 1806 for Jacques Jean René Guibourd, a French settler. The restored residence contains elegant 18th-century French furnishings, and visitors can venture into the attic to view the hand-hewn Norman trusses. A garden enclosed by a brick wall contains a variety of flowering plants and trees. Costumed guides relate the story of Guibourd, his family, the house and Ste. Genevieve around the time of the Louisiana Purchase. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
