Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is 22 mi. s.w. via US 36 and SR 139; the main entrance is 1 mi. s. of Sumner on CR RA at 16194 Swan Lake Ave. The wintering grounds for one of the largest concentrations of Canada geese in North America, this 10,795-acre refuge also attracts bald eagles each winter. Waterfowl visitations peak in March, April, October and November.
A visitor center features videos, exhibits and mounted wildlife. Also within the refuge is a 1.5-mile, self-guiding Habitat Trail and two observation towers.
Fishing is permitted.
