Hull-Rust Mahoning Mine is 1.5 mi. n. on 3rd Ave. E. from the jct. of US 169 and SR 73. The mine is 8 miles long, 3.5 miles wide and 800 feet deep. An overlook features 360-degree views of Hibbing as well as of the active iron ore mine, which has been called the “Grand Canyon of the North.” Since ore shipping began in 1895, more than a billion tons have been removed from the site.

There are paved paths and an on-site information center. Also see the 140-ton production truck, shovel bucket and other equipment.
