Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site is off I-90 exit 184 or 187. Established in the early 1860s, the ranch had grown to 27,000 acres by the early 1900s, and the owners controlled more than a million acres of public range in four states and Canada. Though much reduced, the 1,500-acre ranch still has livestock and more than 80 buildings, from bunkhouse row to the 23-room ranch house.
Daily 9-5:30, Memorial Day-Labor Day; 9-4:30, rest of year. Guided historic house tours are given on the hour in the morning and on the half-hour in the afternoon. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
