Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge is 7 mi. e. on Old Highway 2 following signs to 194 Bowdoin Auto Tour Rd. This 15,500-acre breeding and feeding area for migratory waterfowl, shorebirds and other wildlife, including deer, is one of the few northwestern nesting areas of the white pelican. The refuge can be seen via a 15-mile, self-guiding automobile tour (weather permitting); ideal viewing times are early fall and late spring.
