Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO)

Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) is up a steep hill from Salem in Flemmings, following signs. Established soon after the first eruption of the Soufrière Hills volcano on July 18, 1995, the observatory monitors daily seismic activity. An observation deck offers one of the best views of the volcano and the surrounding countryside, including the abandoned capital of Plymouth.

Guided tours include a video presentation of recent eruptions and a description of monitoring techniques and equipment.
