Old Capitol Museum is off I-55 exit 96A, .6 mi. w. on High St., then .4 mi. s. to 100 S. State St. The 1839, Greek Revival-style capitol building, which served as the seat of Mississippi government until 1903, features a 94-foot-high domed rotunda and contains the governor's office and state House and Senate chambers.

Displays focus on regional history, state constitutions and the building's functions and architectural history. The Hall of Fame recognizes achievements and contributions of noteworthy Mississippians. Multimedia exhibits and presentations allow visitors to listen in on speeches given by members of the state legislature.
