AAA Editor Notes
Rosemont is 1 mi. e. of US 61 on SR 24. In 1810 the plantation became the family home of 2-year-old Jefferson Davis, later president of the Confederate States of America. Originally called Poplar Grove, the cottage was renamed for the rose garden planted by Davis' mother. Guided tours lasting 45 minutes include audio narratives about the statesman's life and the history of the house, which contains many original furnishings. The surrounding landscaped grounds feature seasonally blooming roses and contain the Davis family cemetery.
