Historic. Here’s a true hidden gem: tucked off Main Street in Boone’s oldest building which once served as the jail, this café serves delicious, locally sourced Southern fare. The menu is tweaked seasonally, but classics like fried chicken, meatloaf and fried catfish are often featured. If you’re a fan of collards, you must try them here. Other yummy sides include mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. Reservations are a good idea; seating is limited inside the tiny dining room and enclosed porch. In the summer, dining al fresco in the lovely front yard is an option.
