AAA Editor Notes
Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex is at 801 Arsenal Ave. Exhibits trace the rich history of southern North Carolina from the Paleo-Indian period to the early 1900s. Also featured is Arsenal Park, the site commissioned in 1838 by the federal government to manufacture and store arms. The Arsenal was used by the Confederacy during the Civil War and destroyed by Union troops under the command of Gen. William T. Sherman in 1865.
