Boys Town is at 13628 Flanagan Blvd. Made famous by the 1938 movie starring Spencer Tracy, Boys Town was founded by Father Edward J. Flanagan in 1917. The 900-acre site is now the national headquarters for Boys Town programs that help at-risk children and families. On the grounds are the Hall of History museum, the founder's restored home, Father Flanagan's tomb, chapels, statues and gardens. Audio and guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Admission free. An additional fee is requested for audio and guided tours.
Hours: Visitor center Mon.-Fri. 8-5, Sat. 9-4, Sun. and major holidays noon-5. Hall of History Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 11-4, May-Aug.; Mon.-Sat. 10-4:30, Sun. 11-4, rest of year. Holiday hours may vary; phone ahead. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
