Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary is 2.1 mi. s. off I-80 exit 285, then 2.1 mi. w. to 44450 Elm Island Rd. The sanctuary protects sandhill cranes, whooping cranes and other migratory birds and their habitat along the Platte River. Seasonal walking trails are offered. On-site is a visitor center with educational displays and a large viewing area. During the spring migration, guided crane-viewing tours lasting about 2 to 3 hours are available. Educational programs are offered year-round.

Warm clothing is recommended on guided crane viewing tours; flash photography is not permitted.

Picnicking is permitted.

Donations. Crane viewing tour $25-$35. Reservations for crane-viewing tours are required. Prices may vary; phone ahead for updates.
Trails open dawn-dusk, mid-Apr. to mid-Feb. (weather permitting). Visitor center daily 8-5:30, mid-Feb. to mid-Apr.; Mon.-Fri. 9-5, Sun. 1-4, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve-Dec. 31. Guided crane-viewing tours are offered daily in 2017 at 5 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mar. 4-11; 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Mar. 12-Apr. 9; phone ahead for 2018 schedule. Closed major holidays. Allow 45 minutes minimum.
